When you spend a lot of time in a place, you start to feel ownership. I visited Biltmore over a dozen times last year, but had yet to see her this year, so Justin and I stopped by last week.
Biltmore is magical and she belongs to me.
It’s really here!!!
Warm temperatures mean I’m wearing a big dumb grin all the time and can probably be found talking to all the flowering plants in my garden. It also means I am craving fresh salads everyday, and while I’d love to say I keep it healthy with Olive Oil and Vinegar for dressing, I’d really rather smother it in homemade, creamy, tangy, buttermilk ranch. In my mind, homemade equals healthy.
This dressing is so easy to throw together. I just add the ingredients a few at a time to the food processor and it magically turns into something that will make me eat celery. Adding bacon is optional for some people.
Throw the dressing on some bib lettuce, add radish and bacon, and you’ve got a springtime lunch.
Season with black pepper and lava salt.
This stores for up to three weeks when refrigerated.
Enjoy!
One of the most beautiful things is to observe a mother’s love.
Last week, I was invited to capture Logan with her mother and daughter.
“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” Washington Irving
