Who We Are

Early Days:

In 1952, W. Harwell Allen, Jr. and his brother Tom founded Allen Brothers Construction Company in Memphis, TN.  Since Holiday Inn was also founded in Memphis that same year, Allen Brothers became an early builder of Holiday Inn hotels and later, developers and managers for them.  In 1956, Harry O’Hara joined Allen Brothers to provide capital for operating growth and Allen & O’Hara (A&O) was born.


Since that time, A&O has worked to stay at the forefront of the operations industries.  A&O has built a strong network and are prepared to deliver quality service with a focus on bottom line profit.  As an innovator in property management, A&O has proven itself by treating each project as we did our first one – with time and attention given to every detail.



Matthew Mills - President

Matthew Mills has had the opportunity to personally work in and master each department within the hotel operations.   He has been a Guest Lecturer for the University of Memphis in its Hospitality Curriculum.  He has also been honored and recognized by Marriott Corporation as the "Nation’s Best Hotel Manager" and has been a loyal member of the Allen & O’Hara team for over 28 years.


Ed Iannarella - Chief Sales Officer

Ed Iannarella has had people from over 30 countries attend his U.S.-based hotel sales workshops, and he has also delivered sales training to audiences in Canada, England, Mexico, Aruba, Argentina, Guatemala, and El Salvador.  Ed has been a licensed sales trainer the past 5 yrs. for AAHOA’s "CHO" owner certification.  He has also written and delivered chain-wide sales training programs that have been brand requirements for over 3000 hotels from such chains as Residence Inns, Hampton Inns, Homewood Suites, Baymont Inns, Sonesta Suites, and the Blackstone portfolio of extended stay hotels.


Properties managed by A&O have consistently performed above the markets in their competitive set.  The Experience to generate our numerous awards, continued high Guest Satisfaction, and positive Associate Opinions are all examples of our dedication to providing the best product for everyone involved.   Our Reputation with all the major Brands, Procurement Vendors, Insurance Brokers, and OTAs provides us with the best relationship to ensure the best outcome for our clients.


In 2015, Allen & O'Hara expanded to a Minneapolis, MN office and in 2016 a Fort Myers, FL office to better serve our clients and expand our reach to properties around the country.
